It's in the Photograph

I started a 365 self-portrait project over at http://www.flickr.com/photos/41422408@N00/sets/72157623278732252/.  Just wanted to let ya'll know.  I am going to put up a picture of myself each day --- hopefully my life isn't too boring.  So far I have only done two days.  So keep checking it out for more.  Holla.

Can I Rant? Oh I sure can!

So obviously you know by now that the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Minnesota Vikings yesterday in a 34-3 loss.  Yes, the game pissed me off from start to finish.  Yes, I was screaming at the TV the entire time.  Yes, I wish I could have just turned the TV off at the start of the 4th quarter, but I just couldn't bring myself around to do it.  I was sitting with someone who basically said "We need a big name quarterback.  Tony Romo is not it.  I have never liked Tony Romo, even when he was doing well".  Well shit.  This leads me to defend the man of my dreams because... yeah he didn't have a lovely game yesterday, but is he really that horrible of a quarterback?  I know plenty of teams in the NFL that would kill to have Tony Romo as their quarterback.  The man's numbers were incredible this year.  He has improved so much since he started as the quarterback for America's Team.  And to say he's horrible... are you watching the same Tony Romo that I am?
With that... I say, there are way too many fairweather fans.  Too many fans on the bandwagon.  When we are winning they love the Cowboys, when we are losing they hate the Cowboys.  Isn't that always the case?  Every year.  I heard on The Fan today that the pro shop had only sold $80 of merch and that people were coming in and returning their Cowboys gear.  Seriously?  I bought a Tony Romo jersey the night before the big game, and I didn't go out and return it the day after they lost.  Sorry, I'm not on a bandwagon.  Yeah, I've been a fucking fan of the Cowboys for as long as I can remember.  Aikman days.  Yes, I'm 26 so I haven't seen it all, but I've seen a lot over the years.  And I know we hadn't won a playoff game in 3 million years, so when we won one this year... I was thrilled (as were all the other fans).  But because they lost to the Vikings, everyone seems to forget that we have come so far.  Sure, we didn't make it to the Super Bowl.  Guess what?  At the beginning of the season no one would have guessed we would have even made it this far.  Remember when the Broncos were on a roll, winning game after game?  Did they even make it to the playoffs?  No.
Yes, I'm ranting, but I'm allowed to.  It's my team, and I feel like kicking the ass of every Cowboys fan out there who goes around talking shit and hating on the team they were just giving so much praise to.  You're not a fan, you're a "fan".  Don't start talking shit.  I hate the fact that people were hating on Romo at the beginning of the year, yet once we started winning and he started playing really well they were all wearing their Romo jerseys.  Haters!  Or people who were like "Fire Patrick Crayton" when the season started, yet he played 100 times better than Roy Williams could ever play.  And the people out there who thought Miles Austin was a one game guy... he went on to prove you wrong and go on to the Pro Bowl.
So yeah, I'm bitter... but not at the Cowboys.  I'm pissed at the fans out there who decide they don't like the team because of this loss.  Get over it.  We just have to look on to next year.  I know we didn't want to have to.  I know we wanted to continue on with this journey.  But it's over for this year.  Next year we will have to be even better.  Next year the Super Bowl is at our house.  And next year Brett Favre will (hopefully) be retired for good so he won't try running up scores on people and being the "classless" guy from yesterday.  (Classless is in quotes for a reason... I'm not saying he was classless, but was he wrong... that's your debate, not mine)

cobra starship - tour predictions

Gabe posted a link on his Twitter to this: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1629252/20100107/cobra_starship.jhtml

So anyway, basically it says Cobra Starship is going on tour in April. Gabe said it's going to be "our boys" and "anyone who's a fan of Cobra is definitely a fan of these dudes".  Gabe had told me that he'd see me in the spring, but I didn't know if that meant they were for sure touring in the spring.  I guess he was hinting to the fact that yes... they are touring come April.  So since he wants us to guess who they're touring with, I thought I'd pick the top 10 bands I think they could quite possibly be co-headlining with.  Now if I make a mistake and one of these bands is touring during April with someone else, don't hassle me too much.  I tried to look up some shit, but I might have missed some stuff.  These are in order of how likely I think it will be to happen.

GUESS ONE

3OH!3
Why? Because first of all, they are big enough of an artist to pull off co-headlining with Cobra Starship.  Both have songs on the radio.  Both have similar styles of music.  And they are friends with each other.  I couldn't officially find any tour dates available for 3OH!3, and although there has been rumors they will be touring with All Time Low sometime soon, I think that a Cobra/3OH!3 show would go over better.

GUESS TWO

All Time Low
Why?  Well first of all, when you think of "dudes", these guys are the first band you think of.  The ultimate party dudes right here.  They're tight with Cobra Starship, and I know a ton of Cobra fans are into All Time Low, making this a perfect pairing.  Also, they've toured together opening up for Fall Out Boy, but they've never headlined together.  This would make sense... again their popularity is about equal, meaning a co-headlining tour isn't out of the question.  They're only scheduled as playing overseas until the beginning of March, giving them about a month off before they'd have to go out and tour again.

GUESS THREE

 The Maine

Why? They're not really scheduled for much in the next few months.  Sure, they have Bamboozle to worry about, but that comes before April even hits.  It's only two dates, meaning they'll have time to prepare for a tour with Cobra Starship.  Are they big enough to co-headline with the Cobras?  I think so.  If All Time Low could be considered, I don't see why The Maine wouldn't be.  I haven't seen anyone choose The Maine as a band they'd consider co-headlining with Cobra Starship, so I'm just gonna throw it out there myself.

GUESS FOUR

Gym Class Heroes
Why? Well, what have they been doing lately?  Travis has been doing his own solo shit, but they've been working on recording music and all that jazz.  Wouldn't it make sense to go on the road to support new music?  They've toured together a long time ago, way back in the day, and this would be a fun reunion.  Sure, it's a long shot because Travis is promoting his solo stuff, but they will be touring a little in February, so why not go out on a full tour in April?  They're tight with Cobra Starship, thus they are "the boys".  They could definitely be a contender for co-headlining.

GUESS FIVE

Good Charlotte
Why? Gabe's tight with Joel Madden based on what I've read on his Twitter.  Plus I think a lot of people who were fans of Good Charlotte 5-10 years ago are now big fans of Cobra Starship (well I'm not 100% about this, but me personally... I used to adore Good Charlotte, and now Cobra Starship is my band of choice).   I don't know... it seems like if this tour doesn't happen, it's bound to happen one day.  It just makes sense.  Good Charlotte is big enough to co-headline with Cobra Starship and it would probably sell out every show.

GUESS SIX

The Academy Is...
Why?  Well I'm not a big fan of The Academy Is..., but what I have heard from their fans, the band is supposed to be taking a break from touring.  But that could just be something that's going around being said... so that we don't expect them to go on tour with Cobra Starship.  They've toured together before, so why not go ahead and do it again.  The Academy Is... is playing a show in February to mark the 5 year anniversary of Almost Here.  They could just go ahead and say that's a warm-up to co-headlining a later tour with Cobra Starship.  Could make sense.  I'm not feeling this combo too much right now because I feel the bands I've listed prior to this one have a better shot of touring with the Cobras, but I didn't want to count The Academy Is... out.

GUESS SEVEN

Weezer
Why?  Well for starters, Cobra Starship adore Weezer.  And Rivers Cuomo sure seems to adore Cobra Starship.  He said he would love to tour with them.  Weezer had to cancel their January 2010 tour dates because Rivers needed to recover from the bus accident they had.  So maybe to make it up to fans they would go on tour with Cobra Starship.  I'm sure a lot of Cobra fans can appreciate Weezer.  I'm not so sure a lot of Cobra fans are really into their music, although the older ones probably are.  I don't know if Weezer fans and Cobra Starship fans mesh or not... hell they could be one in the same, but I don't see it.  It would be a good tour with two powerhouse bands.  I just feel like if they were going on tour together, Cobra Starship would be opening for Weezer.  But hey, what do I know?  Cobra's pretty big right now anyway.

GUESS EIGHT

Panic! At The Disco
Why? Okay for starters before I tell you why... I honestly am not a huge PATD fan so I'm not even sure what guy(s) aren't in the band anymore.  I just picked the first photo that came up on Google.  Anyway though, I did read they are working on new music.  So maybe touring with Cobra Starship would give them somewhere to show off their new lineup and new music.  Makes sense, bands like to tour when they have new shit to promote.  I don't know if it would work as well as some of the other bands I have picked to tour with Cobra Starship though.  Yes, Panic! At The Disco are Cobra Starship's homies... but I just don't know how well this tour would go down at the moment.  If it was a few years ago, I think this would have a better chance of happening than now.

GUESS NINE

Cartel
Why? Well Cobra Starship just got done touring with Boys Like Girls.  A few years ago, Cobra Starship toured with Boys Like Girls.  But there was another band that Cobra toured with on that tour.  That band would be Cartel.  Why not go out and tour with an old tourmate?  They're still tight... meaning they're "boys".  And also, Gabe said Cobra fans would be a fan of these guys too.... Cartel may fit that bill.  They may be thinking about the previous tour and how fans of Cartel and fans of Cobra came together (hell they may have been the same group of people).  Cartel just released new music a few months ago, right?  So they have some more material to present to the fans.  This is a longshot, but I'm thinking Cartel wouldn't be a bad choice.

GUESS TEN

Midtown
Why?  Okay well I kind of just threw this in for fun.  Midtown is Gabe Saporta's previous band if you're living under a rock.  I don't really think this would happen, but wouldn't it be great?  I mean, Midtown has been hinting at a possible reunion show since they went on to do their own things.  Give the fans what they want... a nice reunion.  Gabe can perform with both bands... he likes being the center of attention, ha.  A lot of Cobra fans are only fans of Cobra because Gabe is in the band.  So... this could make sense (but really it doesn't).  Okay this is not happening... we can all probably agree on this... but I thought I'd put it on here anyway.  Because it SHOULD happen.

hello lover

This is my husband, and his name is Tony Romo. You may know him as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. I know him as pure hotness.

Music Music! 12 super rad bands...

I decided that because my friends wanted to go to bed at 10 pm, I would do something productive with my life. Thus I've been listening to music all night. Bands I have never heard of.  Bands who were suggested by other bands. Etc etc.  I thought I'd like to go with the pop-punk kick I'm on now. Thought... why not look around and find 12 pretty rad bands to feature here.  So here's the list.  Plus... you know... making a list is good for me because chances are I won't remember all the names of the bands I find.  It's good to have a source to go back to when I want to re-listen to some nice music.  And... I think I shall be doing this again in the future when I have free time... so just be on the lookout for that.

I also really want to find some good bands in the Dallas area that I can go see live sometime.  I know of a few bands, but I really want to find that one band that makes me go "hell yeah!" when I hear them.
